"Visual Books" Benefit Computer Students

By: Chris Charuhas.

What did I learn? That in Visual Books it has more picutures than text for computer instructions. It makes it easier for those who are beggining to learn about technology, and aslo for students learning about new software. It is a good source for students to use because it accomodates for all different leaning styles. For instance, students that are visual learners. Also, that some students learn by computer tasks by visually seeing how things are done. It is a good thing since students work independently.

What else do I want to learn? I would also like to learn more about other sources that can be used in the classroom that will help students in other subjects. I would also like to do more on research on how visual books are beneficial for students in their academics.

Old schools under go green makeovers aimed at student health and financial savings. By: James Daly

Also, that schools are not only going to save the earth, but they are saving money for school, and the students will learn about the global warming crisis. Also, the cost of the retrofit change is so expensive, but the positive outcome for schools is that in the long run they will recoup the money invested. Another thing that I learned is that theres a website for schools to present theri go green ideas to get fund money to start a good project.

What else do I want to learn? Is hwo do students do biodiesel fuel from using the left over cooking oil from the cafeteria. Also, I would like to learn how do teachers and students that changed the regular light bulb to the fluorescent save money. I would like to know the difference of this two different bulbs.

Students and Parents: School on a Mission

The commitmet required to attend YES Prep demands familial support for its students. By: Grace Rubenstein

What did I learn? That education for many students including me takes a-lot of sacrifices, time, demands, and determination. In this case, families coming as immigrants see it as a mission to suceed in here especially since their parents and relatives sometimes don't have good jobs. It is also too much work, self-doubt, and a-lot of expectations. But, at the end ,our goal is to complete and graduate from college to have a better life in America.

What else would I like to learn? What type of curriculum do teachers use. Where YES Prep is located, and how much does the school charge and if it's a public school or if it's a private school. I also want to know if YES Prep has a website to visit its home page. Also, I would like to know if this YES Prep is more of a coummunity school where teachers and students know each other. I would also like to know if this school uses technology.

School-Lunch Staff Bring Nutrition to the Table

Cafeteria food is supposed to be healthy - and cheap. But it's getting harder to be both, unless you get creative. By: Brookie Lea Foster

What did I learn? Is that children in America are obese and that the school cafeteria food is not always healthy especially if all they give children are the fried food, pizza, and the cheese burgers. Also, if the federal government would provide more financial assistance to schools the school would provide healthier foods like: fresh vegetables, whole grains, and low fat reduced milk. This financial assistance would benefit the students health and at the same time they will learn to eat healthier.

What else do I want to learn? Is if the parents are aware of the students diets in school, and if the schools cafeteria uses technology to measure what students perfer to eat. I would also like to learn more about the recipes that this school uses everyday and if parents can view their lunch menu and where do these schools apply for grants to help their school get money for the cafeteria since this benefits students well being.
